Program Descriptions
The Gladiators Fencing Club offers different fencing programs to accommodate all levels of fencing participants. Please review the short descriptions below to identify which program is best for you and your family!
Level 1 (Beginners) Level 1 Beginnner is for participants with no previous fencing experience. Open to ages 9- 13 years old. Participants will learn the basics in the EnGarde! program.
Musketeers (Beginners) A beginner program geared for the little fencer ages 6-8 yrs old. For children with no previous fencing experience. This short 5 week program will introduce the participant to the basics of the sport. Individuals will be placed in a 10 week beginner program or repeat the 5 week program before moving to the next level.
Teen/Adult (Beginners) This program is geared to teens age 14 + and adults. An opportunity for those with no previous fencing experience learn the basics of the sport. Participants will move to Level 2 or Level 3 once a beginners program has been successfully completed.

Level 2, and Level 3 (Intermediate)
Intermediate level classes run once or twice per week. It is a grassroots fencing program which allows participants of all ages (minimum 9) to learn about the sport, practice fencing and participate in recreational Club Tournaments. This is mainly a community and recreational program, but level 3 are encouraged to try appropriate levels of competition. Community fencing promotes active participation of both children and their parents. Participants are encouraged to try local competitions.
Training & Competitive Fencing
The Training & Competitive program is for participants who wish to fence at the Local Competitive, Provincial Circuit or Regional / National Levels. Participants must be a minimum nine years old, have previous community fencing experience. All competitive fencers train at least twice per week and training is divided by level and age. Individual lessons should be scheduled with the coach in addition to the regular group training. Training and competitive commitment in the program varies from introductory level to high performers, and training volume is adjusted accordingly. This program is open to those invited to the program, having demonstrated commitment to training. Please see your coach for more information.
